Peter's Posts

The Forum for Young Canadians greets Canada’s top young leaders, ages 14-19, in Ottawa to learn about political decision-making processes, engage with leaders like MPs, Senators and national business leaders and discuss important issues with other young leaders.

The next session will be held from November 4th – 9th, 2012.  The deadline for November is September 11, 2012.

STATEMENT FROM PETER JULIAN ON FEDERAL COUNCIL’S WORK THIS WEEK

Thank you to NDP Federal Councillors for putting into place fair rules, in a tight period, which will help guarantee an accessible contest for the leadership convention to be held on March 24, 2012.

Every year approximately 15% of students do not complete school. In Burnaby the non completion rate for 2008 was 666 students. That is the equivalent of at least 2 entire elementary schools and approximately 24 classrooms. We lose these students one by one but the numbers do add up. These students have complicated life stories and high needs. Many come from poverty and have trouble getting their basic needs met.

Mae Burrows of Toxic Free Canada - formerly known as the Labour Environmental Alliance Society - says the private member's bill put forward earlier this month by MP Peter Julian will give Canadians the tools they need to make informed decisions for their families.
