Burnaby-New Westminster MP Peter Julian has been recognized by his peers in Ottawa.

Julian was honoured to receive the runner-up award for the Most Knowledgeable MP as part of Maclean's magazine's sixth annual Parliamentarian of the Year Awards. Prime Minister Stephen Harper took top spot in the award, which was voted on by Parliamentarians themselves.

Julian's work has also been recognized by Chantal Hébert, a well-known political commentator in Canada. She named Julian as one of seven standouts in the parliamentary session, saying "the industrious" Julian has "risen to the challenge" of being the NDP's natural resources critic in the fall session.

"I am honoured to receive these recognitions for the parliamentary session, but I am very conscious of the fact that the knowledge I am able to bring to Parliament is the result of representing Burnaby-New Westminster, Canada's most diverse and most extraordinary riding," Julian said in a press release.
