IN THE HOUSE ~ Private Member's Business ~ Presenting Petitions ~ calling on the government to rescind the provisions in Bill C-10 that violate workers’ rights to collective bargaining

40th Parliament 2nd Session
Mr. Peter Julian (Burnaby—New Westminster, NDP): Mr. Speaker, the Minister of Immigration referred to gender equality in the new leaflet that the government put out.
As we well know, the actions of the government have been quite the contrary. The petitioners from southern Ontario and eastern Ontario, several hundred names, call on the government to support my motion, M-384, which would rescind the provisions of Bill C-10, the budget bill from earlier this year that violates workers' rights to collective bargaining, including arbitral awards and equal pay for work of equal value.
The government has to walk its talk. It is all well and good to produce a leaflet, but it is another thing to take concrete action to enhance women's equality in this country, and that is exactly what these petitioners are asking the government to do.
